Client | Vrijland Community Centre

Arch 01 is a temporary installation that was built for a Pop-up Gallery on the beach in IJburg, Amsterdam, for the VrIJland community center. The installation was built with a stockpile of reused wooden blocks, which was created as a way to test the effect of open-ended material stockpiles on collective creativity. The blocks fit within wooden boxes and are stored at the community center for use in an open-ended manner for a wide range of activities, including children's play, as well as the creation of installations and sculptures.

The Arch was constructed in three hours using blocks in combination with reversible connectors, such as quick-release clamps and load binders.
